The exhibition features 12 portraits and personal stories of people who have found protection in Bulgaria after fleeing war and persecution in Syria, Ukraine, Sudan, and Afghanistan.

Starting a New Chapter

Today, I am more self-assured, resilient, and grateful. I have been trans-
formed — I discovered strength in myself I never knew I had. In Bulgaria,
Between Two Worlds

To me, Bulgaria is a small paradise. Of course, there are challenges: the language, finding work, the cultural differences. But my desire to speak Bulgarian fluently and beautifully is what keeps me going.
Choosing Life

This place changed me. I found serenity, friends, and new inspirations. I sing
Bulgarian songs, I am learning the proverbs, I can dance the horo. Bulgaria
became my second home — not out of necessity, but because it embraced
me.
Finding a Home and Love

To return the kindness, I now extend my own hand to others. This
taught me the meaning of love—for myself, and for others.
Life is no fairy tale

When I arrived in Bulgaria, many thought my journey had ended. In truth,
it was only just beginning. I was faced with a new world: an unknown language, a different culture, fresh hardships. Yet even here, I found light.
The House with a Shadow from a Fig Tree

I left because I had no choice, for war does not ask for permission. I left my
parents behind and set out. I feared not just for myself, but also that I would
not be able to help if something were to happen to them.
